Michael pays tribute to workers on International Workers’ Memorial Day

Michael has attended a short service outside Barnsley Town Hall to pay tribute to workers that have lost their lives in the workplace. IMWD.jpgMarking International Workers' Memorial Day, the event brought together trade unions and representatives to remember the dead, but also to renew a commitment to fight for the living.

The service, which was organised by Barnsley Trades Council, was held at the workers’ memorial plaque near the cenotaph, where Michael joined Dan Jarvis MP, GMB National Officer Labour’s candidate for Barnsley East, Stephanie Peacock, The Mayor of Barnsley, Councillor Linda Burgess, and representatives from trade unions. Michael spoke to the crowds that attended about the importance of trade unions in the modern workplace and took the opportunity to pay tribute to PC Keith Palmer, who was killed in the Westminster attack back in March.
