Michael supports Tesco Neighbourhood Food Collection

Hoyland_tesco_foodbank.jpgOn Saturday 29 November Michael visited the new Tesco superstore in Hoyland to show his support for the in-store collection of food items for local foodbanks in conjunction with FareShare and the Trussel Trust. We was welcomed by Deputy Store Manager Eamonn Betts and met foodbank volunteers including Amy Goldthorpe and Hilary Simmons. He was shown how staff and volunteers ask customers to buy extra food items that they can donate on the way out of the store. Tesco then tops up all donations by 30%.

Commenting, Michael said, "I wanted to go to Tescos in Hoyland today to show my support for the staff and foodbank volunteers who do a brilliant job. It's a scandal that so many people are forced to rely on foodbanks thanks to this Government. But the local community in Barnsley responded with their characteristic generosity"
