Birkwood_prize_2015__(1).jpgMichael visited Birkwood Primary in Cudworth on Friday to announce and hand out prizes to the school winners of his constituency-wide competition to find a Christmas card design.  All the school winners and runners up were awarded certificates and prizes of book vouchers for taking part as part of a celebration assembly.

Michael invited all school children in Barnsley East to enter the competition, with the winning design used as his official 2015 Christmas card. This is being sent to hundreds of local businesses, civic leaders, politicians and voluntary groups.

Michael personally congratulated school winner Jaycie Greenwood, age 5 and runner up Danny Gough, age 9. Olivia Powell, age 7 was also a runner up but unfortunatley was not able to attend the presentation.

During the assembly Michael also congratulated the whole school and headteacher Julie Allen on becoming School of the Year at the recent Proud of Barnsley Awards.
