Michael calls for art export ban to be extended

Independent_logo_small.jpgAs reported by the Independent, Michael has called for the UK’s temporary ban on the export of works of art to be extended, as the current rules have allowed too many treasured works to leave the UK.

Works by artists including Rembrandt, Picasso, Poussin and Raphael have been lost to foreign collections in recent years after British buyers failed to emerge in time because the temporary export ban has expired.
